Madagascan Sunset Moth

Sale Price: $50.00 Original Price: $80.00

The Madagascan sunset moth (Chrysiridia rhipheus) is a strikingly colourful moth native to Madagascar. Known for its iridescent, rainbow-like wings that shimmer in the sunlight, it is often mistaken for a butterfly. These moths typically have a short life span, living only about 4 to 5 days as adults, during which they focus solely on reproduction. A cool fun fact about them is that their vibrant wing colours aren't due to pigment, but to microscopic structures that refract light—a phenomenon known as structural coloration.

Frame size- 5” x 7” (rectangle) or 6” x 6” (square)

The frame has a stand on the back, is wall hangable and includes a glass barrier to protect the specimen
