Hanging Cave Nectar Bat
*This bat was sourced through a required pest control cull*
The Cave Nectar bat (Eonycteris Spelaea) is a small, fascinating bat found across Southeast Asia, including places like Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Unlike most bats that eat insects, this one feeds on nectar and pollen, using its long tongue to reach deep into flowers. It's actually a key pollinator for several important plants, including durian and bananas—so we partly have this bat to thank for those fruits! They live in big groups inside caves and can fly surprisingly far—up to 24 miles in a single night—just to find food.
